Tabulas APIs

Journal APIs

Tabulas supports the MetaWeblog as well as the old Blogger XML-RPC interface for managing your journal. These interfaces are a way that your computer can send entries to Tabulas.com without using a web browser.  To use it, you'll need a "client" program.

Verified to be supported clients

Endpoint

The MetaWeblog API endpoint for Tabulas is http://tabulas.com/api/xmlrpc/ (be sure you have the trailing slash!).  You'll need to enter that endpoint into your client software as part of the setup process.  How this is done varies from client to client.  If you need to enter host and path separately, the host is tabulas.com and the path is /api/xmlrpc/ .

Blogger API or GData?

Please note that Blogger.com does not actually use the so-called "Blogger API" (anymore); it uses a newer API called GData.  This means that a blogging program may work with Blogger.com but not work with Tabulas.  Before downloading a program, it's a good idea to make checks its FAQ to make sure it works with the Blogger API, and not just Blogger.com.  You can also check this page for a list of programs that have been reported to work with Tabulas.

Supported XML-RPC methods

The following features are supported:

  • blogger.getUsersBlogs
  • blogger.getUserInfo
  • blogger.getPost
  • blogger.getRecentPosts
  • blogger.newPost
  • blogger.editPost
  • blogger.deletePost
  • metaWeblog.newPost
  • metaWeblog.editPost
  • metaWeblog.getPost
  • metaWeblog.newMediaObject
  • metaWeblog.getCategories
  • metaWeblog.getRecentPosts

The following XML-RPC features are unsupported (and will most likely not be implemented):

  • metaWeblog.getTemplate
  • metaWeblog.setTemplate
  • blogger.getTemplate
  • blogger.setTemplate

Image APIs

Tabulas supports a Windows-specific (XP and maybe Vista) API for uploading images to your gallery.

Using the WinXP uploader

The Windows XP uploader is a tiny .REG file which, when executed, adds Tabulas to the Web Publishing Wizard.  User can then browse their computer folders normally, highlight files, and upload the selected files directly to Tabulas.  For more information, read Uploading Images in Windows XP.

Using the WinXP uploader in Windows Vista

If you're comfortable editing the .REG file, you can probably make the WinXP uploader work in Vista using this fix.  After installation, the uploader should work the same in Vista as in XP.  I have not tried it myself because I don't have Vista.  Try this at your own risk - if you make a mistake editing the file, there's a possibility that your computer won't even start again until it's been to a computer repair shop.

I think i still have the reg file for the winXP uploader i just have to sift through all my files . as far as documentations are concerned, we could create one for it here

by the way, i added this page's link to the first page.

I already found the .reg file and i'll be temporarily/or permanently as one of my media files

Hi Ree.

I can't set up my Tabulas account in w.bloggar. :(

What should I put as host and path?
I tried using api.tabulas.com/blogger/ as host and /xmlrpc/ as path, but it doesn't work. :( I must be doing something wrong. I can't find enough resources in the Net which can tell me what to do.

I hope you can help. Thanks.
